You don't need to ';bathe'; a ball python unless it has gotten into something pretty gross. Their cage substrate should be dry and clean most of the time anyway. If you are detecting a smell or something funky, it probably means the cage needs to be cleaned, not the snake.

Now, if you are trying to help the snake shed, a good soak in warm water is best. Personally, I have a nice tall soup pot with a glass lid I use so I can see the snake. But I doubt your mother would let you use that if she won't let you use the bathtub. A plastic tub, like a sweater box, works well. Put about 1/2inch of warm water (not hot) into the tub and place the snake in it. Sometimes they will struggle and try to get out. Check your water temp, but if it is fine, don't worry. Set the lid on the tub and leave the snake there for 15 minutes or so. You might need to replace the water with fresh stuff as it gets cold. How do i set up a ball python bath tub?
...why are you bathing your ball python? =/

search for 'ball python care' at a search engine.

i never bathed mine, i don't think you'd need to.

Unless he/she has a problem with shedding her skin

which is unlikely =/
You know ball pythons dont need bathing unless there having shedding problems.

You could just use a large plastic tub if you really want to bathe your new snake
